Pauk II Class Corvette
by Roel Van de Velde
1/400 Pauk II Class Corvette (Mirage Hobby)

The Pauk II class was primarily intended for export(India has 4 units, Cuba has 1)  as a follow-on design of the original Pauk ASW corvette. The ships in Russian service,  Novorosiysk and Kuban, were to be delivered to Iraq, but for obvious reasons, were  kept in Russian service. Both serve in the Black Sea Fleet. The vessels are very heavily armed for theirsmall size, this armament consists of:  two 5-barrel RBU-1200 (30 ASW Rockets) launchers, 4 533mm torpedoes in the tubes plus 2 reload torpedoes on portside, a dual-purpose 76mm cannon, a quad Fasta-4M  (16 Igla SAM) launcher and a AK-630 close-in-weapon-system. As you can probably see, I'm a hard-core pencil painter. I exchanged the real flagsticks for pieces of spare railings from my Trumpeter 1/200 Sovremenny.  I also cut the port torpedo tubes open to simulate a reload.
