Subject: HAYABUSA Class Date: Mon, 20 Oct 2003 22:19:32 +1000 From: "Brett Morrow" To: G`day Tim, This is a 1/700 scale`Hayabusa` class Missile Patrol Boat by Sealine Models, Japan. The casting of this kit is excellent, comparable with Jag,perhaps better taking into consideration it`s size, measuring a total length of only 73mm. A lot of scratch fabrication went into this build, the mast array, stern platform grate, funnel intakes & harpoon launchers, but my camera zoom can`t get in close enough to show it properly. The anchor chain is very fine WEM PE as is the railing,I used GMM hatches, life rings & cable reels, the main gun barrel is 27 gauge hypodermic needle, and the horn on the bridge roof was turned down in a dremel, from fine brass wire using needle files, the decal numbers and draft markers are GMM. The J.M.S.D.F. has 3 of these Missile boats in service, which are powered by Gas Turbines and use hydrodynamic propulsion from 3 variable nozzles below the stern platform grating,No conventional props, unfortunately there`s not a lot of info on the net about this class. I`ve displayed this kit because of it`s superb casting,I haven`t seen any builds from fellow modellers, and I`m sure some other members into modern classes would be interested in adding this sleek looking vessel to their collection.
