1/72 PT-325 Patrol Boat (Revell)

I built this model for a former shipmate of mine back in 2002, ABF-2 Terry Giffin. His father served aboard PT-325 during WWll. Mr. Wayne H. Giffin GM-2 served on 325 till the wars end in 1945.   I used the Revell 1:72 pt 109 kit. There was allot of work to do to bring it to the later war look of an 80' Elko. I did not take it all the way to the wars end. I used the original torpedo tubes but scratchbuilt the 40mm and the 37 mm guns along with a few other parts.  I researched the boat and found it a had few names. "Rum Runner" and "Outlaw" were the two I found. We agreed to go with "Outlaw" which by photos you can see it was hand painted on over the painted out windshield.  The deck on this kit has engraved planking so this was sanded off. The radar mast was made from brass rod and soldered.  It was an easy build but very meaningful. I made this for a shipmate who's father served in WWll. What a good way to honor both of them.
