1/84 USS Tucumcari PGH-2 (Aurora)
This is a build of the classic 1974 kit from Aurora of the USS Tucumcari. Mostly an out of box build with a couple of exceptions. The kit is missing rudders, scratch built from styrene and brass rod. The windows were scratch from clear plastic sheet. The armament provided with the kit is crude. The 40mm bow gun was replaced with that from the Airfix HO kit. The 50 caliber mounts were scratch built using the ROCO HO scale machine gun set and plastic card. Hatches were replaced with commercially available white metal parts. An enjoyable build, bring back memories of one I built in 1974 which found its way to the styrene junk pile years ago.
