1/64 PT-103 (Varney)

Here is the model that Ernie Webber restored, enhanced and rebuilt for me. It was/is a 1944 vintage Varney kit that was given to me by a gentleman who found it in a Florida antique shop, in a stripped down condition. Ernie added a 3 dimensional instrument panel using a Waldron punch and decals from a P-51 instrument panel, he replaced the kit’s wood guns (the .50s and the 20mm) with ones from AeroClub, the mount for the 20mm came from the Lindberg 1:64 kit with added detail and the gun features that were scratchbuilt like the shoulder rests. The rails around the turrets are brass wire. The torpedo tubes came from the Lindberg kit the depth charges and their racks are scratchbuilt and the deadlights in the deck are actually 1:350 scale water-tight hatches and he corrected many inaccuracies in the kit to mention here. The paints are WEM’s Colourcoats.
