Inspired after reading the famous book PT-109, my son and I attempted our first father/son ship model. He did a great job fitting and gluing, and I passed along tips on painting and weathering.
On the afternoon of PT-109's ill-fated night mission, the crew lashed a 37mm field cannon to the forward deck. We scratch-built one as best we could out of sprue and sheet. Olive drab thread and tooth picks were used for lashing materials. Coiled ropes are held down with white glue.
All in all a fun build, a real flash-back for me, as a kid I must have built the Revell PT-109 at least three times.
