This is a model of the Great Western which began life as the Airfix Series 1
kit.  Scale is approx 1:500 and the model is about 5 to 6 inches long.  The
deck has been replaced as have the masts.  Rigging is from stretched sprue.
Sails are made of paper as are the flags.  It makes an interesting companion
to my other ship models which are 1:600.  Whilst there is a difference in
scales, this is less pronounced on such a small model.  The 1 Euro coin in
one of the photographs gives an indication of the size.
