ARA Hercules

1/96 ARA Hercules (Lindberg kitsmash)

What do you do if you have two Lindberg Pirate Ship kits which are great but dont really interest you? Well I recently found out about Admiral William Brown from a good friend of mine and he interested me a great deal. A man from Mayo Ireland he became one of the founding fathers of the Republic of Argentina and also started the very professional Armada Argentina. I noticed that his flagship during the war of independence in 1814, the ARA Hercules, was a 32 gun frigate. Well the Lindberg Captain Kidd kit had 32 guns. I got the references from for the Hercules from the internet and there was a lot of variation and they were not too detailed, That was actually a good thing for a lazy person like me I could fill in the details with what was alreaday on the Captain Kidd and use spare parts from both ships for all details above the deck level (I had no proof that the details on the Captain Kidd were not an accurate representation.). I after I was finished there was very little left of both the Captain Kidd and the Jolly Rodger Kits. This kit makes me want to do one of the General Belgrano from the Falklands war, the only warship ever sunk by a SSN. Many thanks to Fiona Bruin for getting me to do this kit it was great fun.
