Here are some picks of the HMS Sovereign of the Seas from Lindberg at 1/250 scale. The model was illustrated in the box as the pirate ship of Blackbeard Edward Teach, which has nothing to do with the reality. Captain Teach never commanded something more tha a scooner. The kit was supposed to have figures included that never came. I contacted Lindberg anbd their answer was that it was a mistake print on the box. Many pieces were not fitting and required trimming and rework.
After little research on the net I figured out the right ship and the works started giving a pretty good result. The ship received extra rigging from the palns of another British warship, and lots of weathering. I decided to cut the hull to waterline and create a small diorama, adding painted cotton for guns smoke on the stern, and spikes of silicone to the water to represent the eneny shots. The ship is in typical battle stations formation with all gun traps open. The sea was crated with stucko and took many work in order to represent the waves of the sea in accordance to the sails of the ship. It took around 5 months of work and although the bad beggining gave a good result.
