Same Crocker's Stone Horse

1/18 Same Crocker's Stone Horse (Scratchbuilt)

In the late 60's Boating Magazine did an article on Edey & Duffs Fiberglas rendition of Sam Crocker's Stone Horse. I fell in love with the boat at first glance. Back then I tried a solid balsa version with dismal results. Forty years later my hand/eye coordination is improved and I started my Stone Horse. I contacted Edey & Duff and got a sales brochure with lines on it. With the help of a Xerox machine I was able to make templates for the frames and keel. The frames and keel are plywood dunnage scraps, the planking is 1/32 basswood with very thin mahogany deck overlay. Sails are made from Tyvek building wrap.

This is a work in progress and there will be more photos as work progresses.
