This is the HMS Victory from Revell, the kit seems to date back from 1959 and can still be said to be of good quality, certainly taking in account her age. Some minor glitches and some parts were missing. This was a nice ship to build after the normal modern day warships I build.
Plastic sails were also included, but I wanted to make the sails of cotton, but eventually abandoned the idea because of difficulties to cut them in the right size and shape.
I am sure there are many errors in this ship as I did not really follow the painting guide, nor did I follow the current painting scheme as I think she was not painted this way when she was in real active service. The planking molded on the hull is not correct either.
It is built for someone special to me and I know he is not really that demanding, this is also a reason why I did not want to go into too much details, the rigging is not correct either, but I have done partial rigging for the looks. The ropes used were also included in the kit, but seemed to loosen a bit after some time.
I did take the effort to paint the details as is it was possible and I was affraid the ship wouldn't look good without the details. They were molded in the hull too and they are really nicely done. I did have to make the lower part of the forward mast, one of the bars in the back and another part on the stern myself as they were not included.
All in all a very nice kit and really recommended for someone who wants to try something different!
