XL-25

XL-25 Sailboat (Scratchbuilt)

For the past several year I have build a sailboat model for St Thomas' Episcopal Church Towson MD Christmas bazaar. This year I decided to keep the Stone horse I was working on and needed a quick build so I went with the XL-25. This is supposed to be a R/C model. I purchased the plans on line and built it to half size. The three hull formers are 3/32 plywood, chines and shear are 1/8 basswood. The hull and deck is made from 1/32 basswood pieces. Sails are made from scrap Tyvek house wrap, Fin and rudder are from SS scrap, and the base is 1" acrylic offal. Total build time was about 20 hours.
