This model of the USS Salvor (ARS 52) was built completely of spare parts.  The Safeguard class salvage tugs are large, highly useful salvage tugs, capable of all types of salvage & ocean towing and equipped to operate ROVs for undersea search. These are the last USN salvage tugs, but are supplemented by the ATFs and chartered ships in the salvage and fleet support role.
