HMS Express 1939

Union-1

1/100 Union Eagle (scratchbuilt)

This model was built for one of the crewmembers as a present. It was entirely built from scratch using styrene sheet and brass rod for the greater part of the model. The only things that were purchased were railing stanchions. They are modified 2-bar railing for merchant ships of Dean's Marine PE set.

The hull is made in the tradional way of using frames of 1.5mm thick styrene on a 2mm thick keel, covered with 0.5mm styrene sheet for the skin. The bow and stern were shaped using car body filler and then sanded to shape.

The construction process with in-progress pictures can be found on the scratchbuild board on the forum of this site.
