1/108 Lucky XI Tug (Revell Germany)
Revell's "Harbour Tug Boat" kit represents the mid 20th-century US diesel tug "Taurus". It has been issued under various names over the years and is currently sold by Revell Germany with markings for the London-based "Lucky XI".
Dating back to the 1960s, this kit is surprisingly good considering its age, apart from the usual flash and poor fit found on old-mould kits. It even includes reasonably in-scale railings. My model is built virtually out-of-the-box, although I "toned down" the colour scheme by painting the deckhouse and cabin black rather than bright red. The heavy weathering and rust was applied using oil washes and craft acrylic paint.
Built in early 2007, this is my first large-scale civilian vessel, but will certainly not be the last!
