Tug Boat

1/600 Generic Tug Boat (scratchbuilt)This little model makes an interesting addition to my 1:600 fleet as it allows one to compare these vessels to the larger ships. The model started life as a free gift, (one of a range of 10 types of vessels), in a packet of breakfast cereal. The “models” were sized “to fit” the particular cereal packet. This was way back in 1968.
This tug-boat model was one of these 10. I have had 3 of these models for the last 38 years and I have recently realised that the scale was close enough to 1:600 for a generic type tug-boat model to be built. The remaining two unaltered tugs appear in one of the photos. I chopped the basic model a little bit and added 30 or 40 bits and pieces. The result is a rather “different”, if tiny, addition to my “fleet”. You can gauge the size from the 50p coin or the 1:600 Canberra visible in the photos.
