As part of the Battle of the Atlantic diorama, I elected to include the Battle Fleet Models ATF tug as part of the escorts contingency. The configuration of this little craft is quite distinct with its amidships mounted crane being a main feature of the build.
Very helpful as well is the colouring instructions showing measure 32 for both sides of the ship, and this turns out to be a very dramatic, and viewable scheme which makes the ship a strong subject for the resin model builder.
As soon as these elements were completed in the modelling process, the composition really came to life, and everything else was a bonus.
What took all the heartache out of the research was Mike McCabe’s build of the same kit. A lot of questions were answered in his build along on the BFM site, and also the Navsource website mentioned in the instructions proved to be a great companion for the researcher.
The good thing about this kit is that there are many versions, old and new, and also a number of ships which joined other navies, so buy one, and have fun.
Great subject BFM!
