1/700 USCG 123' Island class cutter (Scratchbuilt)
A U.S. Coast Guard 123-foot series cutter greets an incoming chartered container ship laden with U.S. Military containers returning from Kuwait. A constant 'bridge' of Military Sea-Lift Command and chartered container vessels between the U.S. and Kuwait support the Enduring Freedom effort in Iraq, supplying everything from bathroom tissue to tanks. The cutter model is a little over 1 and 1/8 inches long. Both vessels were made out of balsa, sheet plastic, shaved-down broom-stick bristle, and typing paper. The APL container ship was modeled after one shown in an AP photo.
