1/400 USS Coatney, APD 140 (Various Paper)
This is a conversion of a DE to an APD in 1/400. I am calling it USS Coatney, APD 140 since I got the model from Lou Coatney’s web site and there was no APD 140.
I found this model in Lou Coatney’s web site. I though it was going to be an easy conversion that took me a long time to produce. I needed to scratch build the LCVPs and supports, the new superstructure, secondary armament, etc. Also I wanted to add things that would be able to be disembarked by the LCVPs and I included some jeeps and an L-4 Grasshopper. I guess a determined crew would do it! I also included a GPA amphibious jeep and some stores. I am also included a scratch-build Japanese LST type vessel, T101 for reverence. I regret that I used the markers for coloring the model, next time I will print the colors. Just remember that this is a hobby and no one is going to die if the colors are not perfect!
