1/700 USS Eldorodo LCC-11 (Scratchbuilt)
USS Eldorodo's long career extended from the Iwo Jima invasion in 1945 to the wind down of the Vietnam War in 1972. The ship was finally scrapped in 1976. The Eldorodo also did time off the Chinese coast as an AGR, picking out radar signatures in the late 1960's. The model is built of sheet plastic, balsa, note card paper, and a raid on the parts box. Navsource photos were used to try to depict the ship at about the 1968 timeline.
