1/700 USS Mount Whitney LCC-20 (Trumpeter)
This is my build of Trumpeter's USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20), command and control ship. I used railings from Gold Medal Model's 1/700 Tarawa/Saipan set, since I had them on hand. Without them, I think the ship would have looked bare. I have deviated from the prototype paint scheme, using white for the radar domes and painting the upper part of the mast in black. I also used the "hi-viz" hull numbers - it's my model and I'll do what I please. Besides, it looks really cool. I had nothing but problems with the antennas and the pole directly behind the superstructure - no matter how careful I was, they always seem to lean to one side or another. As cool as I think this ship looks, it is without a doubt the last 1/700 ship I will build. Give me 1/500 or larger from now on. Hope you like it.
