I loved the pic on Alt_Naval of a supposed A140A proto-Yamato. So here is my interpretation, call it A140x. I call her IJN Nebari. Nebari is a term from bonsai, it means the exposed root structure of a bonsai, and since the A140A was one of the 'roots' that finally became the 1:1 Yamato, I thought the name was appropriate.
Kitbashed from a Tamiya 1/700 waterline Yamato. Went for shielded AA guns everywhere. Second breakwater is mine, as is the raised section of decking ( meant to imply heavier armor, but in reality covered gaping holes in the model's deck!) Also fabricated the turret barbettes on main and secondary batteries. Drilled out the 18" guns. Raised the tower and sloped the bottom of it. GMM PE frets. Didn't have the heart to rig it properly. Tooks months of on-and-off work, but overall what fun, eh?
I love this look. Everything Nelson/Rodney should have been aesthetically.
This is the first ship model I have done in over 30 years, the first in 1/700, and the first time I have worked with PE, so please overlook newbie deficiencies in build and photography.
