When I opened my Trumpeter 1/350 Liberty Ship, I was already impressed with the improvement on Trumpeter models. I inspected the hull and it fit very well to the lower hull. The deck fell in place and I said, "I wanna start this baby"
With the good service of Tom's Modelworks, my PE set came in just in time. I assembled the entire kit with ease. There were manageable flashes and seams here and there but not much of a problem.
Choosing what ship to build was dependent on the paint scheme I wanted for it. The O'brien had a simple haze gray paint scheme and I wanted something different. So I built it as the USS Triangulum AK-102.
I made the water diorama out of a 6 piece cardboard glued altogether. Then I applied Graumbacker Modeling Paste to create the body of water. After that, I hand painted it with Tamiya Flat Green and later Flat Blue. Then I finished it of with white water using Acrylic White straight from the tube. When everything was dried, I applied about 5 coats of Future Floor Wax.
I had fun building this project. You should try one yourself.
