The fast combat support ship ( AOE ) USS Sacramento was one of the US Navy's largest combat logistics ship. The AOE has the speed and armament to keep up with the carrier battle groups.It can rapidly replenishes Navy task forces.
The concept was to creating a one station supply ship to perform the functions of three, fleet oiler AO, ammunition ship AE and refrigerated stores ship AF.
The pics shows a underway replenishment of the USS AOE 1 Sacramento from JAG to a guided missle cruiser of the Leahy-class. The kit is the old Waveline kit of CG 16 Leahy.
The Sacramento is a superb kit with outstanding details and great casting quality.
I hope there will be some more kits of the US Navy's support ship realized in the future. Perhaps from JAG or the new manufacture "ships and models".
