Chinese Antarctic support ship Xiangyanghong

1/700 Antarctic support ship Xiangyanghong (scratchbuilt)
This is a custom-made 1/700 model of the Chinese Antarctic support ship Xiangyanghong. The westernized name is sometimes reported as "Xue Long" which means "snow dragon." The ship is used on various oceanographic research voyages and also supplies the Chinese base in Antarctica. There are few details available concerning the ship, other than the fact that is is about 550 feet long (if I remember correctly) and is around 15,000 tons full load. The ship has a large helicopter pad aft. It was acquired second-hand from Finish owners in 1985.
