1/100 OPDR Canarias Container Ship (Scratchbuilt)

OPDR Canarias is a container shipping company providing service from the Canary Islands to Seville, Spain. I was asked by OPDR Canarias management to restore a six foot model of one of their primary container ships (scale = 1/100). When I picked up the model, it was in very bad shape with just about the hull in somewhat recognizable condition but requiring new rudder, propellers, and other details. The Superstructure had to be totally rebuilt. From picture and plans for the ship I was able to build the model to corporate display conditions. Because of the size, I worked on the model in my garage. However much of the superstructure was custom built on my workbench and paint shop in the basement of my home just outside of Madrid, Spain. I have included pictures of the prototype, the finished models, and pre-restoration condition. The model is now at OPDR Canarias Corporate Headquarters, in Madrid, Spain.
