1/700 Catahoula (Battlefleet)
Catahoula is a modified Battlefleet Hog Islander kit, converted to a mid-engined molasses tanker, as several Hog Islanders were. Essentially the conversion involved plating over hatches, cutting down bulwarks, down rigging booms, plated over hatches and addition of other tank hatches, and adding a catwalk from mid-ships to stern.
All I can say is that at almost age 76, 1/700 is a beastly scale to work in. However, Battlefleet’s kit output is so interesting, to me anyway, that I plow ahead even though I can’t see what I’m doing.
I'd like to thank Harry Abbott at Battlefleet Models for his fine castings and for his very interesting subjects for models. Battlefleet has a unique output that is really appreciated by me, and no doubt many others. Abbott is a fine craftsman and a lot of model builders have been influenced by him.
