The South Sands liveried Cargo ship, “Celestia” is a 1/200 scale model of a multi-hatch bulk carrier. Based on the Sydney Star, by German manufacturer, Graupner, the Celestia has been the focus of several changes during her build.
The Kit contains are two thrusters, located fore and aft, these thrusters enable the model to rotate on a given spot, or traverse sideways, negating the need for the use of tug boats.
Changes I have made:
My changes to the Sydney Star kit are the addition of a Goal-post type front mast, as opposed to the single pole type. The most obvious difference is the deck detail, Gone are the containers, in favour of hatches and a mock up of a travelling crane. The inspiration for the crane and mast come from the PNTL vessel “Pacific Sandpiper”, one of 3 ships that carry nuclear fuel and high level vitrified nuclear waste to and from Sellafield via the port of Barrow – in – Furness.
