1/700 Colombo-CMS Hanover Express (Revell Germany)
Hand painted containers: Seeing a few photos of the COLOMBO EXPRESS I was challenged to do more with the containers than others submitted so I painted them all individually. I sprayed a base black colour to start with then had to hand paint the containers, which took about three months, finding time amongst family and business activities.
Kit-bashed decal sheets:. Revell provide the Hapag-Lloyd decals for the orange containers the rest were found amongst thirty years of decal sheets from past projects.
Kit-bashed GMM PE: I used GMM PE railings and ladders from leftover US navy kits. I ran out of railings for the length of the hull and plan to add them on arrival of a new Handrail PE set.
Real windows and portals: All the windows were injected with white/transparent glue to create glass. Although these are hard to see in the photos they do look very good.
The Revell kit has good detail and the components fitted together well.
