1/375 S.S. Garden State (Revell)
This is a civilian version of the VC2 'Victory' class of freighters. The Revell kit is of the AP assault transport version. The only parts I used from the kit were the hull, which was modified, and the anchors. All the rest is scratch built, with some parts from the spares box. PE rails and doors are from Tom's Modelworks, both 1/400 and his Liberty ship 1/350 scale set.
States Marine Lines operated from 1930 to 1974. The S.S. Garden State represented was the second ship to bear that name, the first being a C-2 class. The Garden State started life as Oglethorpe Victory in 1945. In 1949 she was renamed Buckeye State, and in 1957 renamed Garden State. She was scrapped in 1971.
