1/380 NS Savannah (LifeLike)
NS Savannah built from an old LifeLike models kit in, I think, 1/380 scale. Was an old kit in a badly damaged box with some pieces missing that I picked up at a yard sale. Went together suprisingly well considering the age of the kit, although the old plastic was a brittle, translucent white color and I had to be extremely careful with it so as not to ruin any more pieces.
That's the problem with the older kits that somebody wants to hold onto instead of building them. I can understand the collecting aspect of it, but I know from working with plastics and synthetics at my job, that plastics begin to dry out over time as the petroleum compounds slowly evaporate. Eventually some of the really old kits won't be usable at all - which is why I build them rather than let them sit and deteriorate.
