1/1250 RMS Empress of Russia (Scratchbuilt)
In her time, ocean liner RMS Empress of Russia was notable for her technical details and for her many different military duties. She was owned by Canadian Pacific Railway Company which used her as liner giving service between the American continent, Japan and China. During the First and Second World Wars she was an Armed Merchant Cruiser and carried troops several times.
She was launched in 1912 and scrapped in 1945; her length was 180 meters,
beam 20,7 m. (quadruple screw steamer, 21 knots max.). RMS Empress of Russia
was the first liner to have a straight stern like a warship which gave
her very good seagoing qualities. As always, a rare ship model (not common
in commerce) made in a minute scale as she appeared in 1918, during the
First World War, with guns, in dazzle camouflage by Norman Wilkinson. Realistic
model made by hand without machines; sandalwood, a few small metal and
plastic parts.
