1/600 TS Maxim Gorkiy (Scratchbuilt)
The Maxim Gorkiy started life off as the Hamburg launched in 1968. In 1974 she was transferred to the Black Sea Shipping company and sailed under the Soviet flag. The model shows her in this guise. In November 1975 two bombs detonated inside her as she was approaching New York. She did not sink and was repaired. She was in Malta in 1989 and was used as the venue for the summit between President Bush and Gorbachov. The model is scratchbuilt to a scale of 1:600. It is made out of various thicknesses of plastic card, Evergreen rod and strips. The etched brass is by Tom’s Modelworks. Decals are home made and printed on my inkjet.
