1/600 SS ORIANA (SCRATCHBUILT)
The Oriana was the last of the Orient Steam Navigation Company's liners. >From 1959 to 1966 she sported a corn coloured hull as shown on the model. In 1966 she was then painted white. She was launched at a time where air-travel became safe and as people moved away from travel by sea, the liners were rendered unprofitable. She was then operated as a full time cruise ship based in Sydney, Australia. In 1986 she was sold to become a floating Hotel in Japan and later in China. She was damaged in a severe storm and sank whilst in the port of Halian, China. She was raised and sold to breakers in 2005.
The Model was built using the following materials:
- Various thicknesses of plastic card
- Plastic rods and strips by Evergreen
- Etched brass railings by Tom's Modelworks
- Decals were home printed
- The lifeboats were 3-d printed by Iceman from the Britmodeller site.
