This is Revells' 1/125 the scale kit of the U-99 , a type VIIb U-boat ,
converted to U-203 , a type VIIc boat as it was in 1942 .

I modified the conning tower by filling in the starboard side , and then
added the wind deflector , the antenna rod housing to the port side , and
extended the lower trailing edge as in production type VIIc's . Additional
detail was also added to the conning tower such as a compass ,periscope
housing protectors , and an aerial insulator.

The rake of the bow was increased and the leading edge of the bow was
refined to a knife edge after rebuilding with plasticard and milliput .

All the railings , steps and handholds other than the bandstand were made
from florists wire , soldered where necessary .
