1/144 DKM Type XXI (Revell Germany)

This is the Revell 1/144 kit. A true classic which has recently been rereleased (as far as I can tell - given that it was once kinda scarce but has now suddenly popped up in again in my local hobby shops). I've started to think differently about Revell. I used to equate them with the Monogram junk. But this is Revell Germany we're talking about. Not Tamiya quality, but I was impress with the molding and detail nonetheless. It makes me wonder if they retooled it as well. Construction was fairly straightforward. Using a mini-drill bit, I replaced the molded plastic ladders on the sides of the sail with staples. Straitened staples and thread were used as the uprights and railing. Finish was a custom mix of Tamiya paints. Final weathering was accomplished with charcoal. The base was custom made with the help of a bandsaw (I'm an aspiring amateur woodworker as well).
