Here is a 1/200 scale model scratchbuilt with plastic card on the basis of the original plans. It represents the first of a class of classic French 800-ton submarines that were widely used from 1964 to 1997 in french navy. 11 submarines will be used in France and several sold abroad (Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Pakistan) but unfortunately 2 submarines will disappear in 1968 and 1970.
The model of the submarine Daphné is represented in one of the oldest drydock of the military port of Toulon in the course of the 1970s. Indeed, this drydock was built in the 18th century when the ships were still under sail ! Not very big nor very wide, it could accommodate sometimes for some "small" submarines.
