HMS Torbay
By Max Cosby

1/350 HMS Torbay T Class hunter killer (White Ensign)

1/350 conversion from White Ensign HMS TRAFALGAR. All the bollards and fairleads on the casing are scatch built. The two cremembers on the bridge are Humbrol Model Filler which has been molded and painted.

The weathering and tile effect was done using  light grey, dark grey, white and brown watercolour with satin varnish added in rectangular patches around the hull. The sea is acrylic gel layered on a painted base. The bow wave and following 'dip' in the sea was formed by building up the bow wave with sea coloured tissue paper and then carving away the base to give the extra depth behind the wave. The wash was created by adding several layers of white water colour. Finally the whole sea was given a sprayed layer of varnish. She was build during the easter school holidays (I'm 15). She is my first modern submarine model  and I'm very pleased with the results.
