Delta IV SSBN

1/350 Delta IV SSBN Pr. 667 (Alanger)
It took a lot of effort to make this kit to look close to the original sub as much as possible.
- All the original details on all decks are removed. They were out of scale
and quite ugly.
- Hull configuration: I was trying to fix but did not succeed much: shaped a
little bit the bow part and missile deck by sanding and added lugs under
missile shafts using putty. It's still not accurate, but since this sub is
still in service there is not much accurate information or drawings.
- Emergency buoys and escape capsule ( the one in the aft, not sure about
proper English term ) and made them from scratch. I drilled holes in hull
and put them in as separate parts instead of just bumps offered by the kit.
- All the details on decks are either scratched or made of leftovers of PE.
- A lot of flooding holes are drilled on the decks.
- Flooding holes on hull were opened and PE mesh was put inside.
- Reactor cooling water scoops were moved down comparing to what kit
suggested.
- Screws are from different kit (Oscar class), those ones from the box are
totally off.
- Railing, doors on the port side, navigation lights and some other details
were added to the sides of sail.
- Fairing of navigational detector of patches of ice-free water on the front
of the sail and hatches of celestial guidance antennas on top of sail where
scratched.
- Place for hiding "Iva" (the skewed one) antenna and flooding holes were
cut and drilled on the top of the sail.
- Almost all retractable devices are made from scratch or replaced by more
accurate ones from other kits.
- All telescopic masts are made of syringe needles of different diameters.
- Missile hatches where corrected by cutting them horizontally in two parts
and adding hemispherical lids on inner surface.
