1/700 Yuri Dolgoruky, Borei Class SSBN (OKB Grigorov)
After a 20 year hiatus I’ve finally returned to the hobby of scale ship modelling and this is my first tentative effort. I cannot believe how our hobby has progressed over this period with a whole raft of aftermarket products and kit developments that couldn’t have been dreamt of way back when.
I decided to start with this simple yet highly detailed resin offering from OKB Grigorov depicting the latest Russian SSBM “Yuri Dolgoruky’. This is the lead boat in the new Borei class of which 8 are planned. It was painted with Vallejo acrylics and weathered using a combination of Tamiya and Mr Color pastels. The representative submarine dry-dock ‘cradle’ was scratch built using styrene.
