1/350 K-19 Hotel class SSBN (Zvezda)

Having now done two builds of Zvezda's November class sub, I finally turned to the earlier release of the Hotel class sub K-19, as featured in the movie "K-19: The Widowmaker" starring Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson.

Like the Golf class subs, which are similar in appearance, the K-19 carried three ballistic missiles in its sail. When these subs were designed, the Soviets had not yet mastered solid fuel technology for their missiles, so they used more bulky liquid-fueled missiles, which were so large they could only be accomodated in the enlarged sail.

The kit is simple - the biggest challenge is eliminating the seams.
