1/700 Submarine Minelayer L-4, Black Sea, mid-1930s (Combrig Conversion)

Combrig gives you two sets of hulls in their submarine kits - a waterline hull and a full hull. After I built an L-3 using waterline I had a very nice full hull left over which I didn't want to throwaway. So I waterlined the hull and scratchbuilt the sail. I drilled out the bridge area and made the splinter shielding around aft part of the sail by removing about 0.5mm from the sides of the sail and gluing plastic sheet in the grove. I sanded it flush and glued the roof to the bridge area. The antenna spreaders were made from pieces of the photoetch from the spares box. The 102mm/45 B-2 bow gun was modified from the 102mm/60 gun as in the real life.

The submarine was painted with PollyS acrylics and was painted as a mid 1930s Black Sea L-4 submarine.
