1/144 Romeo (Trumpeter)
This is my version of the Trumpeter 1/144 Chinese Type 33 submarine (or Soviet “Romeo” class, as I’ve depicted it here.) Overall I’d say this is a good kit. This was also my first stab at a Trumpeter offering. I’d judge it to be about the quality level of a Revell or Monogram kit (that is, back when their molds were crisp & new and they still gave a damn – like in the in 1950’s.) The decals were nice and thin – not common with stock decals. Separate numbers are provided for customization, although it would have been nice if they had included some Russian flags and markings along with the Chinese.
The deck railing was made with straightened staples and thread. All weathering was done with pastel chalk. The nameplate was made in Adobe Illustrator.
