1/72 USS Pampanito SS-383 (Revell Kitbash)
Well I got a new sub, or I should say I rebuild and scratched and kitbashed, my old Balao sub. I turned it from a 48 incher to a 52 inch Balao sub.
I went out and got that new 52 inch sub by Revell and started rebuilding about 3 months ago. Some said I was nuts when I cut the nose off my old sub and started rebuilding. Well as you will see, it looks good now. I used the nose from the kit, as well as the deck. That added about 2 inches to the hull. Used some of the parts from the one I had, then took the new conning tower and started reworking it into a Balao.
My own hull has been RC proven and it showed it today when I put it back in the water after having been out for a few years.
I am very happy with it and have future plans for building the kit but a lot of scratch will be done since I use a lot of parts from the first kit; I may have to get a parts sub....
