1/178 USS Trumpetfish SS-425 (Revell)
This subject is a 1/178 USS Trumpetfish SS-425 . It was built from the abundant Revell lionfish kit. The Trumpetfish was one of 9 boats that was transformed in 1962 from a Guppy II to a Guppy III. In order to make space for new sonar and more updated eletronics these nine the Guppy II's were sliced in half and a 15 foot section was added between the forward control room. On the revell model I used a similar method, a special extention to lengthen the hull to scale and adjust the sail position. The comparison photo shows the model before weathering next to a regular guppy II.
