1/700 USS Jimmy Carter SSN-23 (Hobby Boss)

This is the HobbyBoss release of the USS Jimmy Carter SSN 23 in 1/700. The Carter is the third unit in the Seawolf class and differs significantly from her sisters, Seawolf and Connecticut. She's named for our 39th President, the only US President to have been a submariner.

The difference centers around the addition on the Carter of a 100 foot long section in her midsection, called an MMP or Multi-Mission Platform. It's designed to allow her to carry SEAL teams and ROVs. In general, the principal function of the Carter is to serve in covert missions and special ops.

These HobbyBoss kits are pretty nice and I would rate them a notch above the DML series of 1/700 modern subs. I thought the decals worked very well for the small scale.
