USS Topeka SSN-754

1/350 USS Topeka SSN-754 (DML)

This is USS Topeka SSN-754 built out of Dragon’s Ohio kit in 1/350 scale. Topeka is an improved Los Angeles class, having no dive planes at the conning tower but sporting bow mounted ones instead. I wanted to show Topeka during her launch on January 23rd, 1988. To achieve the effect, I took a piece of beech wood and milled out a hollow for the sub's stern. The water was made in the usual fashion, using silicone after painting the base in different shades of blue. I applied the decoration of the bow using my airbrush and some star decals I had left from an aircraft project. I added railing and a small decorated platform over the bow. The crew is from Preiser.

A really nice build, easy to do.
