1/600 HMS Hotspur (Airfix)
A few of these old-timers have been showing up on hobby shop consignment
tables. One such is a 1964 vintage Airfix kit of the famous WWII British
Destroyer HMS Hotspur. It is remarkable how little some of those 1930's-built
vessels were. Hotspur was only a 1,340-ton destroyer carrying four 4.7-inch
guns, two quad .50 cal. mts., and four torpedo tubes. Hotspur served
all over the map in early going of WWII. This little kit is pretty spartan,
but fits together well and has nice lines. I built it pretty much out of
the box.
